The first full length movie ever made in Hollywood was "The Squaw Man" produced in 1913 by Jesse Lasky and directed by Cecil B. DeMille. Over 7,000 hairpieces were made for the movie by Max Factor. The hairpieces were so bad it inspired Perc Westmore to invent the lace front hairpiece while working at Factors.

Norma Talmadge (1893-1957), all but forgotten by today's movie-goers was a super star in her day. History has it that she was the very first star to have her footprints placed in the wet cement outside of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Her prints occupy the central square right in front of the theatre doors, framed by those of Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. Her sister Natalie (1898-1969) was married to Buster Keaton and co-starred with him in many of his silent comedies.

In Brewster's Millions, Richard Pryor took his hoard of political followers to the five star L'Orangerie restaurant.

The first Academy Awards ceremony was staged at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in 1929.

The interior of Robert Redford's mansion in the movie Indecent Proposal was filmed at the world renowned Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens.
